Man charged with r.a.p.e.s and s.e.x crimes dating back more than 20 years

A man has been charged with a string of historic r.a.p.e.s and s.e.x crimes around Birmingham and Nuneaton.



Phillip Blackwell, 55, has been charged with the crimes that date back to the late 1990s.

The Launceston, Cornwall man is charged with four counts of r.a.p.e and other sexual offences in south Birmingham and Nuneaton in the late 1990s.

He was arrested on Wednesday after a joint investigation between Warwickshire and West Midlands Police.

He is charged four counts of r3pe, an attempted r3pe and an indecent assault on Sunday, January 26, and is due to appear before Leamington magistrates tomorrow, reports Birmingham Live.

Blackwell is accused of raping women in Yardley on February 9, 1997, Selly Oak on October 22, 1997 and twice in Weddington, Nuneaton, on May 30, 1998.

He is also charged with indecently assaulting a woman in Bournville on December 21, 1997, and attempted rape in Frankley on February 3, 1998.

This investigation continues and anyone with information should call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting log 253 of 26/01/20.
