JAMB CAPS 2022/2023: How to ACCEPT Or REJECT Admission Offer

UTME and Direct Entry candidates can indicate whether they will ACCEPT or REJECT the admission offer made to them through the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) portal of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), which can be found at caps.jamb.gov.ng. On the JAMB CAPS portal, candidates who have not yet been admitted can also monitor the status of their admission.

The JAMB CAP

You are hereby informed that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has activated the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) portal. This will allow candidates who are seeking admission into the various tertiary institutions in Nigeria (i.e. universities, polytechnics, colleges, and others) to accept or reject their admission offer and also monitor their admission process.

Wothappen understands that all candidates seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria for the 2021/2022 Academic Session are advised to visit the JAMB CAPS portal in order to check their admission status and also indicate the acceptan

How the JAMB CAPS System Operates

In order to automate the admissions process into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) developed the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) platform. In addition to this, it ensures that the admissions process is controlled for quality, transparent, and credible.

The Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) streamlines the Admissions Process, addresses the challenges associated with the manual approach, restores the autonomy of the tertiary institutions concerning admissions, makes candidates the focus and empowers them with information on available choices of institutions and programmes, expands admission opportunities, eliminates multiple admissions, and provides easily retrievable information; in other words, CAPS addresses the challenges associated with the manual approach, restores the autonomy of the teir

It is anticipated that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) will make provision for a “marketplace” within the JAMB portal. This marketplace will allow institutions to go and request students in Nigeria who score their cut off points.

Because of the way the system is set up, institutions can only admit people who are above or below their respective thresholds. In the event that a candidate does not achieve the minimum score required for admission, regardless of the candidate’s personal connections, the student will be denied enrollment.

The procedure is now fully automated thanks to CAPS, and in addition to that, a few other novelties are also being implemented. And these are some of them:

opportunities for candidates to confirm provisional admissions, thereby removing instances of candidates withdrawing their applications for admission;

  • market place that enables institutions to source candidates from the available pool based on various criteria such as JAMB score, state, and local government, and even gender of the candidates
  • the requirement that all candidates who are awaiting their O/L results must first upload those results into the JAMB portal in order to have their admissions applications considered.
  • Candidates are able to check their admission status on the JAMB portal at any point in time, and admissions can be processed instantly or in batches. Candidates can also check the status of their own admissions at any time.
  • It’s possible that some educational institutions won’t post the list of students who were accepted into their various programmes on their website or bulletin board. Therefore, individuals who are interested in gaining admission are strongly encouraged to check JAMB CAPS in order to continuously track their admission status.

WARNING: Once you accept the admission, your search for a school to which you can apply will be over because you will no longer be eligible for consideration by any other educational institutions. If you choose to decline the offer of admission, on the other hand, you make yourself open to consideration by other educational institutions that have open admission positions.

How to either ACCEPT or REJECT an Offer of Admission Using JAMB CAPS

Applicants for admission can check their status on JAMB CAPS and either accept or reject their admission using internet-enabled devices such as personal computers, tablets, and mobile phones.

The following is the process that must be followed when using a computer or mobile device to check, accept, or reject admission.

ACCEPT or REJECT an Admission Using the JAMB CAPS Computer

STEP 1: Visit https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility/ where can I find the JAMB electronic facility portal?

The second step is to log in to your account by providing the email address and password that you established during the registration process in the appropriate fields.

STEP 3: At this point, look for and select the Check Admission Status option.

The fourth step is to choose the year of your examination, enter your JAMB registration number in the appropriate column, and then click the button that says “Access my CAPS.”

STEP 5: On the left panel, choose the option labelled “Admission Status.”

STEP 6: To load your profile, look for the ‘Search’ button that is located in front of your JAMB Registration Number, and then click on it.

You will find the option to accept or decline your admission offer in the section labelled “Admission Profile.”

Note:

If you have been given the opportunity to enrol, the buttons labelled Accept Admission and Reject Admission, which are highlighted in red below, will be available for you to use.

  • Details regarding admission status (highlighted in blue) might be different.
  • If you have not been offered admission at this time, please continue checking.

ACCEPT or REJECT Admission Using Your Mobile Device on the JAMB CAPS System

Please be aware that if you are accessing CAPS from a mobile device, you might not see the option to check your admission status. The majority of people who use the phone might only see the welcome message. The welcome message is the only content that appears on the caps page because viewing the full page requires you to switch to desktop mode. Because of this, the Chrome web browser comes highly recommended for use on mobile devices. To view the entire page, you simply need to navigate to the Chrome settings and select the request desktop site option, as will be further explained below:

  • Visit the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) E-facility portal at https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/e-facility/.
  • First, ensure that your email address and password are entered in the appropriate fields, and then proceed to log in.
  • The next step is to find “Check Admission Status” and then click on it.
  • Choose the year of your examination, enter your JAMB registration number in the column designated for it, and then click the button labelled “Access my CAPS.”
  • You will be greeted with a white screen that looks like this when you log in: (to get a better look at the picture, you can click on it)

  • You now have the option to accept or decline your admission offer within the ‘Admission Profile’ section.

Note: There is no cost associated with accepting or declining the admission offer!

After accepting their admission on JAMB CAPS, candidates who have been offered a spot in the programme must print out their letter of admission. It is highly likely that they will require this in order to clear clearance and register at the school to which they have been admitted.

Information for applicants who have not yet been accepted on the JAMB CAPS system

Candidates who have not been offered admission should monitor their admission status very closely using JAMB CAPS.

Candidates who registered themselves as “awaiting result” during the JAMB application process are required to upload their O-Level results to the JAMB website in order for their preferred educational institution to begin the admissions process for them.
