In Athens, Georgia, Walker opened a D’Lites fast food franchise in 1984.
Walker founded Renaissance Man Food Services 1999, a company that sells chicken products. Following a casual conversation with a Sysco vice president who requested some of his mother’s chicken-breading recipes, Sysco Corp. became his original producer.
He established H. Walker Enterprises in Savannah in 2002 as a holding company for the majority of his other business ventures, Renaissance Man Food Services being the largest of these.
Walker has a history of exaggerating the number of employees and assets of his businesses; as a result, creditors have brought legal action against him after a number of his businesses failed.
Walker highlighted Renaissance Man Food Services, one of the biggest minority-owned meat processors in the nation with $70 million in annual sales, as one of his favorite companies.
Walker later provided much lower figures in deposition testimony for a lawsuit, asserting that his company made an average of $1.5 million in annual profits between 2008 and 2017.
Walker claimed that Renaissance Man Food Services, which was in charge of several chicken processing plants, was a scaled-down version of Tyson Foods.
