Gombe state purchases 100 school computers for N100m

The Gombe state government has procured 100 computers at the cost of N100m, TrackaNG, a project initiated by the pro-transparency group, BudgIT, that tracks the performance of government budgets has disclosed.

TrackaNG in a tweet on Monday, February 17, disclosed that it had tracked the delivery of the computers in Filya area of Gombe state. It said the sum of N100m was allocated in the 2019 budget for the supply of the 100 computers.

However, the disclosure by TrackaNG sparked a debate on social media as many Nigerians wondered why a state would spend N1m to procure each computer.
