Friendly Match: Super Eagles to face Ronaldo’s Portugal in September

The Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Portuguese senior national team will be meeting for the first time in September, NFF secretary general, Muhammad Sanusi has confirmed.

The three-time African champions will now take on the European giants after their t year2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double-header against Guinea-Bissau was shifted to March 2023 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The shift was a result of the decision of the continental football governing body to move the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier scheduled for July next year in Ivory Coast to February 2024 due to the unfavourable climate in the West African country during summer.

NFF official, Muhammad Sanusi said the glass house is now preparing for the Super Eagles friendly against Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Portugal.

Portugal will start their 2022 World Cup campaign against the Black Stars of Ghana, who defeated Nigeria by FIFA away goal rule to qualify for the mundial.
