The Falconets of Nigeria have booked their ticket to the quarter-finals of the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
The West Africans sealed their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition after beating South Korea 1-0 in their second Group C game Estadio Alajuela Morera Soto, on Monday morning.
The match earlier scheduled for 9 p.m. Nigerian time was delayed by an hour over poor weather conditions.
Midfielder, Esther Onyenezide’s late goal gave Nigeria the deserving victory. South Korean keeper, Kim was unable to stop her superb long-range strike.
Falconets are now top of Group C with six points from two matches.
Recall that the Chris Danjuma girls pipped European champions, France 1-0 in their opener.
Falconets will now face Canada in their final group match on August 18.
