A top law enforcement source tells the New York Daily News that the FBI has taken Fetty Wap into custody at Citi Field on federal drug charges.
The FBI arrested Fetty Wap on Thursday afternoon at the Mets stadium, according to a source.
It’s believed that the “Trap Queen” singer will appear in federal court later today.
There are no further details available.
He goes by the stage name Fetty Wap, and he is worth an estimated $8 million.
Fetty Wap, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, is one of numerous people charged with trafficking in relation to the case, which alleges that they worked to smuggle heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and more from the West Coast to Long Island for distribution, according to the New York Times. “The fact that we arrested a chart-topping rap artist and a correctional officer as part of the conspiracy indicates just how disgusting the drug trade has gotten,” said FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael Driscoll.
As one of five defendants named in the case, Maxwell’s name had been obscured on the indictment until it was unveiled this past weekend. The charges against Fetty Wap have been dropped.
