Diego Maradona’s final act of kindness just weeks before his tragic death

The death of Diego Maradona on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 has continued to garner reactions from across the globe, but his last act of kindness will never be forgotten.

Just weeks before his death, the 60-year-old launched a fundraiser to help get food across to people who have been affected in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Although a controversial character, Maradona remains a legend of the game of football despite his antics on and off the pitch.

News of his death has allowed his final act of kindness break out having helped those who have struggled during the pandemic.

It was gathered that Maradona partnered with the Red Cross in his home country Argentina for a projected tagged ‘Las 10 del 10’ – to provide food and carry out infrastructure in 10 of the country’s cities.

The legend made the announcement on social media a month before he died. He shared a video alongside the caption:

“I have the honor to announce that on October 30, my birthday, the solidarity campaign ‘Las Diez del 10’ will start.

“That day we will be in Villa Palito, together with @CruzRojaArg, @ Diego.Tipping and the deputy @NicolasRodriguezSaa, to deliver three trucks full of hygiene items, gel alcohol, bleach and mask.

“And we are going to wire and close the paddock that bears the name of Father Bachi, so that the girls and boys can play in peace and shelter

“In addition, thanks to the National Sports Secretariat, we are going to be opening two sports schools, which will give work to many and many teachers.”
