Cute lost dog goes viral after showing up at police station at 3.30am
A lost German Shepherd mix dog on Tuesday, February 11, stunned Texas police officers manning a police station after it showed up into the precinct.
Legit.ng has learnt the dog ran away from its owner’s home which is about a mile away in the wee hours of the morning and lost its track.
According to Dailymail, the dog, identified as Chico did not wait for its owner to file a missing pet report as it ran all the way to a police station to ”personally alert cops” of its missing status.
Officers from Odessa Police Department could not help but joke about the experience through the station’s official Facebook page.
In the post, the department confirmed the dog later let itself out and ran back to its owner’s home in a move that gave the officers relief.
”So, this happy guy randomly strolled into the front desk of the Police Department last night. We were thinking he wanted to apply for a K-9 position after eliminating a lassie type situation. He was given lots of love and attention until he decided it was time for him to leave. He let himself out and after an exhausting search was not found. We were relieved to learn he safely returned to his owner. Chico is welcome back anytime ☺️,” Odessa Police Department wrote on Facebook.
The aforementioned was confirmed by Sergeant Rusty Martin who said the officers were all happy to have Chico around, in an interview with The Dodo.
”We were all excited to have him in the building. We had a tennis ball and threw it in the lobby for a bit. Everyone loved on him,” Martin said.
Police confirmed the owner, Edward Alvarado was not aware Chico was missing since he was fast asleep and only came to learn of the situation following a text from his nephew informing him he had seen the dog’s photo on social media.
The post made by Odessa Police Department informing the public about Chico’s missing status moved many people on social media who gushed over it on end.
The post had garnered about 2000 likes and over 1,500 shares on Facebook alone.
