Christian Dickson Walker born March 28, 1991, is an American professional baseball first baseman for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Baltimore Orioles.

At the university, Walker played college baseball for the South Carolina Gamecocks from 2010 to 2012. He made significant contributions to the team’s success, helping them win the College World Series in 2010 and 2011. Walker’s impressive performance earned him recognition, and he tied the record for the most career hits in the College World Series. During his time at South Carolina, Walker played in 206 games, showcasing his talent with a batting average of .336, 30 home runs, and 137 runs batted in.

In the 2012 MLB draft, Christian Walker was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth round. He embarked on his professional career, making his debut with the Aberdeen IronBirds. Over the years, Walker progressed through the Orioles’ minor league system, playing for teams such as the Delmarva Shorebirds and Frederick Keys. In September 2014, he received a call-up to the Orioles and made his major league debut. During his brief stint with the team, he recorded his first hit, a double, and his first home run.

Walker’s baseball journey later took him to different organizations, including the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds. Ultimately, on March 28, 2017, he joined the Arizona Diamondbacks. He began his time with the organization playing for their minor league affiliate, the Reno Aces, where he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Pacific Coast League in 2017. Following his impressive performance, Walker was called up by the Diamondbacks and showcased his skills in several games.

In subsequent seasons, Walker continued to contribute to the Diamondbacks’ success. In 2019, he displayed his offensive and defensive abilities, recording a batting line of .259/.348/.476 with 29 home runs, 73 RBIs, and a Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) rating of 9, the highest among National League first basemen. Even during the shortened 2020 season due to the pandemic, Walker maintained a strong presence with a .271 batting average, 7 home runs, and 34 RBIs.

To solidify his future with the Diamondbacks, Walker agreed to a one-year, $6.5 million contract on January 13, 2023, avoiding salary arbitration.
