According to rumors, Asisat Oshoala’s Super Falcons captaincy has been removed from her, and she has reacted.
On Thursday, April 7th, the Super Falcons skipper was relieved of her duties as the team prepares for a double-header against Canada.
An NFF top official told SportNewsAfrica that the decision on Oshoala was made in good faith in order to allow the striker to rediscover her form with the Super Falcons.
“We have no issues with Asisat [Oshoala], but after the Aisha Buhari Cup last September, we considered stripping her of her armbard,” the senior official was quoted as saying.
“This isn’t because of anything unpleasant, but because I’m worried about seeing her struggle in national team colors.” The captaincy, we and the coach [Waldrum] noticed, is dragging her down and impacting her play. We believe she is a legitimate professional player, with or without it, and she should not have to prove differently by delivering on the field.”
Randy Waldrum is also claimed to have agreed to have the captaincy band removed from the Barcelona star since it was bothering her.
“LMAO, I’m just hearing this … but okay,” the former Liverpool player posted on social media hours after the news broke.
