After graduating from the National Health Agency in 1997, Alice worked as a junior practitioner. She then served as an anatomy demonstrator at Bristol University and finally became a lecturer in 1999. In 2008 Roberts has been part-time in her paleopathology Ph.D., studying disease in ancient human remains, graduating from the University of Bristol the same year.
She was a senior teacher with a primary role in the fields of clinical anatomy, embryology and anthropology, and research on osteoarcheology, and also at the Center of Comparative and Clinical Anatomy at Bristol University. Alice co-presented modules for the “Beating Bipolar” program in 2009, the first-ever web-based education treatment for those with bipolar depression.
That year she was elected as an honorary fellow at the Hull York Medical School as well as the Director of Anatomy at the NHS Severn Deanery School of Surgery. In 2016, she finished her tenure. She became the first professor at the University of Birmingham to join the department of public engagement in science in February 2012. Alice has served as an advisory board member at the Milner Center for Evolution at the University of Bath since 2018.
She has also been an advisory board member of the Cheltenham Science Festival for about ten years.

She also presented and wrote a two – series BBC titled ‘ Dr. Alice Roberts: Don’t Die Young. ‘ The series was screened in January 2007 based on anatomy and health. She presented ‘The Incredible Human Journey’, a five-part BBC Two series. That year, Roberts, along with Mark Hamilton, served as the presenter of the one-hour documentary ‘A Necessary Evil? in 2009.
She presented the documentaries ‘ Wild Swimming ‘ and ‘ Digging for Britain ‘ in August 2010. A year later, she had the opportunity to present ‘ Origins of Us, ‘ examining how far the human body has evolved over the past seven million years.
In April 2012, Roberts presented Woolly Mammoth: Ice Secrets on BBC Two. From 22 to 24 October 2012, she appeared in the BBC series Prehistoric Autopsy with co-presenter Dr. George McGavin, discussing the remains of early hominins such as Neanderthals, Homo erectus, and Australopithecus afarensis.
