Akwa Ibom job seeker, Iniubong Umoren’s killer sentenced to death

Uduak Akpan, the murderer of Iniubong Umoren, a job seeker, who was raped and killed on April 2021, has been sentenced to death by hanging.
Justice Bassey Nkanang of the Akwa Ibom State High Court passed the sentence on Thursday after finding the suspect guilty of rape and murder.
Uduak was arrested and charged to court along with his father, Frank Akoan Akpan, and his sister, Anwan-Bassey Akpan, after the body of late Miss Iniubong Umoren was exhumed by the police.
The presiding judge however discharged and acquitted the second and third defendants (Frank Akoan Akpan and Anwan-Bassey Akpan).
Uduak Akpan reportedly lured Iniubong Umoren, a 26-year-old graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo, to his family residence at Nung Ikono Obio village in Uruan Local Government Area with a job offer, and raped, murdered and buried in a shallow grave.
