The Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers continue to heat up as various teams look to qualify for Africa’s elite nation’s football competitions this year.

For the Super Eagles of Nigeria, they top Group L with 8 points but now have to win their next game against Benin Republic to qualify for AFCON 2022 after managing to pick up just 2 points in their double header against Sierra Leone.

In this article, Wothappen analyses some of the sides which have already qualified for the competition thanks to their consistency in the qualifiers with a number of games to spare.

1. Tunisia

The North Africans will have another shot at the competition once again as they secured their ticket following a 1-1 draw against Tanzania on Tuesday, November 17.

Because they beat the East Africans in the reverse fixture last Friday, Tunisia is guaranteed of a top two finish in the group.

2. Cameroon (hosts)

Being the hosts, Cameroon will typically feature in the competition, especially after establishing a six point lead at the top of Group F after four games.

3. Senegal

Sadio Mane’s side has a flawless record in Group I with 12 points from 12 and sealed their qualification with two games to spare.

They painfully lost to the final in 2019 after losing 1-0 to Algeria but they are looking good ahead of the next edition.

4. Algeria

The draw against Zimbabwe which featured a stunning goal by Riyad Mahrez means the defending champions are almost guaranteed of topping their group with two games to spare as they hold a five-point advantage over their nearest rivals.

5. Mali

Mali has been in impressive form in the qualifiers and their 2-1 win over Namibia means the worst they can finish in Group A is second.
