A look into Mystikal’s net worth as rapper arrested on false imprisonment charges

Louisiana-based rapper Mystikal was arrested on Sunday (July 31) and faces several charges, as revealed in a press release by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO).

APSO said it responded to an incident at a hospital on Saturday (July 30).

The Tarantula artist, real name Michael Tyler, faces charges including first-degree rape, simple robbery, domestic abuse battery, false imprisonment, and simple criminal damage to property, NBC News reports.

Mystikal was booked into Ascension Parish Jail with a bail hearing reportedly set for Tuesday, August 2.

Mystikal has a net worth of $2 million (about £1.6 million) in 2022, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

The 51-year-old New Orleans rapper made waves in the music industry with the release of debut album Mystikal on the Big Boy Records label. He dropped another album, Mind Of Mystikal, in 1995 that included guest appearances by Lil Wayne and BG.

His album Unpredictable (1997) reached number three in the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top R&B and Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Mystikal’s biggest success came with the release of his fourth album, Let’s Get Ready, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

Rapper’s recent career explored

After the release of Tarantula, he was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Rap Album and Best Male Rap Solo Performance in 2003.

Mystikal found further success after featuring on Ludacris’ single Move B**** and on Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz track I Don’t Give a F***.

He performed during Mardi Gras in 2010 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts.

Other singles he has been credited on include promo track Papercuts with Lil Wayne and Fiend, and Just A Lil’ Thick with Lil Dicky.

Most recently, he performed at the 2022 Funk Fest, which also featured appearances from Brandy, Jeezy and Tank, among others.

Statements from Mystikal’s attorney and authorities

In the same NBC News report the rapper’s attorney, Roy Maughan, said a bail hearing had been set for Tuesday, August 2.

“Our investigation into the facts has just begun, but we expect Mystikal will be granted bail,” Maughan said in a statement.

Meanwhile, APSO spokesperson Donovan Jackson said: “[Mystikal] was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. This is an ongoing investigation. Further details may be limited at this time.”
