Mr Ibu, a veteran Nollywood actor, has responded to reports that he had endorsed Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the presidency of Nigeria in 2023, after a viral video of him doing so went viral.
Mr Ibu claimed to have been present at the event where Tinubu was endorsed in a video posted on his Instagram page.
He clarified that if he decides to run for president in 2023, Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, will be his nominee, not Bola Tinubu.
He claims that Atiku has been extremely helpful to him in the past and that he has no intention of abandoning him in favor of another candidate.
“People approached me about Tinubu’s involvement in the presidential election in Nigeria. I’m a completely independent person, and anything that has to do with anything publicly should be addressed to me on that.” I’m not sure what’s going on with this thing, but it keeps spinning.
“I’ve never run against the grain; it’s always been me and Atiku, who has assisted me in a variety of ways, and if he runs for president, Atiku is unquestionably my choice.”
The fact that I’ve worked for Atiku even in his home state means that I wouldn’t abandon him. Not that I want to bring Tinubu down, but he is not my candidate; Atiku Abubakar, on the other hand, is my candidate.
“Anyone I’ve visited has been nothing more than a visitation. Even though they requested my assistance as an actor in some capacity, this does not imply that I have abandoned my candidate or my fathers in any way. “Everyone is running for office in 2023, and may God assist them.”
